Check-ups & prevention
Check-up and clean
An unhurried exam, a hygienist clean and the X-rays you are due — with a plain-language summary before you leave.
A check-up here is booked as a full hour: half with the dentist, half with the hygienist. We look at every tooth surface, your gums, your bite and the soft tissue of your mouth, including a screening for oral cancer.
X-rays are taken only when you are due for them — usually bitewings once a year and a full set every three to five years, depending on your risk. We tell you which ones and why before we take them.
You leave with a short written summary: what we found, what (if anything) needs doing, how urgent it is, and what it would cost.

Questions patients ask
Does the clean hurt?
Most people feel scraping and pressure, not pain. If your gums are sensitive we can numb the area first — just ask.
How often do I need one?
Every six months suits most adults. Some people need three-monthly cleans for gum health; others can go a year. We will tell you which applies to you.
